Norman George Boring met his Lord in Heaven on Monday, January 20, 2020. Norman was born in Maryville TN on October 27, 1939 to Mark and Dora Boone Boring. He graduated from Ooltewah High School in 1958, attended UTC and served in the Army National Guard. He married his bride, Ruth, in 1965. He served in his churches as a deacon and Sunday School Teacher. He was a member of the First Baptist Church in Cleveland.Norman was an avid gardener sharing the fruits of his labor with friends and family. He loved the challenge of an engineering feat and always had a “tinkering” project on hand. He frequented the local “Cruise In” as a prideful owner of a 1934 Chevy Truck. With twelve brothers and sisters, he was passionate about hosting family gatherings. He was a member of the “Roaring 50’s”, enjoying sharing the gift of song. Norman retired from M & M Mars where he was affectionately known as “Stormin Norman”.As a stroke survivor and through battles of deteriorating health, we always saw him smiling.Norman was preceded in death by his son Norman Kris Boring, his parents Mark and Dora Boring, his brother Dennis Boring and his sister Sherry Boring.He is survived by his loving wife of 54 years Ruth Bates Boring, his son Geoffrey Scott Boring, his sisters and brothers Louise Wilkinson, Charlotte Kesley, Elizabeth Wagoner, Tom, Calvin, Ed and David Boring, Pam Kliner, Sheila Boring and Wendell Boring.A Remembrance of Life Service will be celebrated at 4 o’clock Saturday January 25, 2020 at Jim Rush Funeral and Cremation Services North Ocoee St. Chapel with Rev. Beecher Whitehead officiating. The interment will be held at 3 o’clock, Monday January 27, 2020 at Cookson Creek Baptist Church Cemetery in Polk County with family and friends serving as casket bearers. The family will receive friends Saturday from 1 until 4pm at the funeral home. The family requests that in lieu of flowers donations be made in Norman’s memory to First Baptist Church Cleveland Building Fund, Samaritan’s Purse or St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital.
