Oleta Ownby

Oleta Ownby, 91, a lifelong resident of Bradley County, passed away Sunday, May 14, 2023, at her home. She was the daughter of the late Gus and Lela Frazier and was also preceded in death by her husband, Homer Ownby; sisters, Lenell Thompson, Reba Collett, and Imogene Still; brother, Gale Frazier; son, Derick Ownby; grandson Zachery Adams; and two daughters in law, Vickie and Tammy Ownby. Oleta was a member of Thompson Springs Baptist Church. She loved to garden, sew quilts, doing her genealogy, and she loved to travel. She is survived by her daughters, Renee LaDuke and Treva Hillard; son, Tillis Ownby; 6 grandchildren; 8 great grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. A Remembrance of Life Service will be held Wednesday, May 17, 2023, at 12:00 pm at Jim Rush Funeral and Cremation Services Wildwood Avenue Chapel with Reverend Kevin Teague officiating. The interment will follow at Hilcrest Memorial Gardens with Jarred LaDuke, Dustin Ownby, Tyler Ownby, Nathan Ownby, Tim Frazier and Brent Collett serving as pallbearers. The family will receive friends Tuesday from 5 until 8 pm at the funeral home.
