On Tuesday, March 17, 2020, Reverend Orville Hagan passed away at age 83. Orville was born on November 29, 1936 in Harlan, KY. He moved to Oak Ridge, TN a short time later where he lived until he was through middle school. His family then moved to Ft. Wayne, IN which is where he met his sweetheart Vicky Hughes. They met at the Third Street Church of God and attended High School together where they shared the same study hall. They would write notes to each other on the desks and became close. Soon Orville (or Jim as his close family calls him) would become a part of the Hughes family, eating Sunday dinner with them each week after church. Orville and Vicky married on June 18, 1955. They began their family with their first child Abbie and 3 years later their son Greg was born. They were married for 64 years. Orville had a heart for the Lord and became a preacher as a teenager. This was his life work as well as his heart’s desire. He served the Lord preaching for over 65 years. Brother Hagan received his education at the University of Hawaii and received an honorary Doctor of Divinity from Lee University in 2003. Reverend Hagan became an internationally known minister in the Church of God, which has a membership of over 7.4 million worldwide. He has served in many administrative capacities as well as a pastor to congregations in Indiana and South Carolina and has spoken in hundreds of denominational meeting around the world including the 1994 General Assembly. He has been the featured speaker in all 50 states and over 100 camp meetings. He has traveled extensively throughout Europe, Asia and the Caribbean evangelizing the lost and encouraging Gods children. Reverend Hagan has held many capacities including tenures as Second and Third Assistant General Overseer, Director of Evangelism and Home Missions. He was a member of the denominations Council of Eighteen, as well as State Overseer for Virginia, Tennessee, Chicago Metro (now known as Great Lakes Region) and Hawaii. He also served as state Youth and Christian education Director in Kentucky and Pennsylvania. Orville was preceded in death by his father Thomas Hagan (age 50), his sister Dorothy Dunaway, brother Carl Hagan, mother Elizabeth Chance, and brother David Hagan. He is survived by his beautiful wife Vicky, his daughter Abbie Hagan of Cleveland and son Greg Hagan (Sharon) of Lawrenceville, GA. He has 4 awesome grandsons; Chris Barrineau (Nicole), Ross Hagan (Lindsey), Colson Hagan and Preston Hagan. He was also blessed with 4 great grandchildren; Kyndal Whitner (18), Aubrie Maddron (18), Braydon Barrineau (13), and Hudson Hagan (4). A Remembrance of Life Service honoring Dr. Hagan will be Friday March 20, 2020 at 2:00PM with visitation preceding at 11:30 – 1:30 at North Cleveland Church of God, Cleveland Tennessee. The committal service will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens. Dear Vickie and family, We were shocked and saddened by the news of Orville's passing. You and your family have been and continue to be in our prayers. Orville was a choice servant of the Lord. He, along with you, made a tremendous Kingdom contribution. The fact that his passing occurred during this time of social distancing and self quarantine is heartbreaking. So many of us felt compelled to watch online. The service was beautiful. I know the Lord was present and you felt His arms around you. God bless and keep you and give you comfort and peace. Sorry to hear about the death of Orville., He was a good friend, going back to his 4 years in PA as youth director., I am sorry that I could not go to his funeral. I know that you as a family realize how special he was and that you shall see him again in heaven. My prayers are with you

Orville Hagan will always be special to the Lane family. His kindness to us and friendship is always cherished. We send our love and sympathy to his dear wife Vicky. You will be missed Brother Hagan
I first met Orville Hagan when we both ministered in South Carolina. We served in youth camps together. Our relationship continued through the years as pastors, state youth directors, church administrators, as speakers together in camp meetings, and as members of the International Executive Committee. Orville was a true church statesman who was genuinely dedicated to his family and his calling. He will be greatly missed.
Vicky, my wife Vickie and I both know something of the loss you have suffered, but through our experience we can assure you that God and good friends will be there to comfort and minister to you. You and Orville had a wonderful life together and the results will live on forever.
I deeply regret not being able to attend the memorial service personally but we will join online, I am suffering from acute bronchitis and respiratory problems and have been advised to stay in.

I met Dr. Orville Hagan at a very strategic time in my life. I was longing for an example of what a "godly" minister looked and acted like. I was invited to breakfast with him during that time of my life. He sat in front of me in typical "Brother Hagan" fashion. Kind, gentle, wise, godly, and a man who listened much more than he talked. I sat in front of him a broken man who so needed a good someone like him. I still remember sitting in that cafe in Cleveland, TN, thinking, "God when I grow old, this is what I want to be like." Little did I know that he would become a very close and personal mentor in my young life. We became very close over the next eighteen years. I am so thankful to have known this "Man of God." He forever printed into my soul the DNA of a godly "Man of God." I will never be the same after having his imprint on my life. His wife and children were his great loves, as well as his grandchildren. Earth can never be the same after this "Saint" has been promoted. Heaven is a reward he was looking forward to receiving. He longed to see Jesus face to face. His prayer life should be a lesson to us all. His word was his bound and his love ran deep and loyal. May God bless his beautiful family as you now assume the job of passing on his legacy to the next generation.
