Phillip Lowell Cook, Sr. , 72, a resident of Cleveland, Tennessee entered into his heavenly reward on Sunday, January 26, 2020.Phillip was a member of the North Cleveland Church of God and was a faithful parishioner at Restoration Fellowship where he served long-time friend and brother in ministry, Dr. John Looper. Additionally, Pastor Cook was an active member of several Tres Dias communities including Tres Dias of SouthEast Tennessee and North Florida where he served as the Head Spiritual Director. Most recently, Phillip was employed with Legacy Senior Living since 2017 as the Coordinator of Chaplaincy Services.Phillip was born on December 12, 1947, in Logan County, West Virginia, the son of the late Foley Franklin Cook, Sr. and Orlie Rose Hinkle. After graduating from Man High School, “Bobby,” as he was known in his hometown of Man, West Virginia, pursued his calling into vocational ministry for his entire adult life. He served as a loving and effective pastor in many churches located in West Virginia, Pennsylvania, Georgia, Florida and Tennessee. A self-made Bible scholar and student, he loved discussing the Christian faith and how to reach those in need. Additionally, he was the Founder and President of Wounded Warrior Ministries, Inc. which was birthed to love, support and nurture pastors, evangelists, administrators, and others who had fallen in life and left the ministry.During the early years of his ministry, Phillip, was very active in denominational youth camps and was an annual participant in church softball leagues. This activity led to him becoming an umpire for many county and church leagues as well. Additionally, his love for all things Los Angeles Dodgers related was unmatched. During his most recent years, Phillip loved going to the golf course and could be seen most afternoons rocking on his front porch continuing his life-long love of reading. Phillip was a devoted husband, father and grandfather who always put the well-being of his family first. He built a legacy of living fully and loving completely…and he was always looking for any set of willing ears to share about his beloved family!Phillip is survived by his loving, loyal wife of 53 years, Joyce Dale Paynter Cook of Cleveland, TN and his children Bryan Cook (Traclyn), Cleveland, TN , Phillip Cook, Jr. (Tonya), Cleveland, TN, Timothy Cook (Jill), Clarksville, TN, Michael Cook (Candace), Cleveland, TN, and Jennifer Cook Sikes (Walter), Monticello, FL. Phillip also leaves 14 grandchildren: Stephani Cook Brown (Anthony), Matthew Cook, Abbi Cook, Meridieth Cook Palmer (Michael), Megan Cook, Drew Cook, Joshua Cook, Christian Cook, Sophia Cook, Lukas Cook, Rafe Cook, Grant Cook, Isabella Cook, and Hannah Sikes. He is also survived by 6 brothers and 1 sister of West Virginia, North Carolina and Florida.A Remembrance of life ceremony will be held at 1pm on Friday, January 31, 2020 at Westmore Church of God and will be officiated by the Rev. Dr. John Looper of Cleveland, TN. The family will welcome family and friends for visitation at 6-8pm on Thursday, January 30, 2020 and 11am-1pm on Friday, January 31, 2020 at the church. Interment will follow in the Sunset Memorial Gardens with Jeremy Holt (Head Casket Bearer), Walter Sikes, Matthew Cook, Drew Cook, Anthony Brown, Michael Palmer, Danny Hendrix and Ricky Pollock serving as casket bearers.
