Rebecca “Becky” Bowles was born to Leonard and Petra Alvarez on February 18, 1946 in Deckerville Michigan and lived in Oakland County, Michigan most of her life. Becky worked for General Motors for thirty years before retiring in 2001. It was at General Motors that she met the love of her life, Daniel J. Bowles, whom she married on April 7, 1972. After having had a cabin near St. Helen in northern lower Michigan for many years, Dan and Becky built a retirement home there, where they lived until 2012, when they relocated to Cleveland, Tennessee. Becky was preceded in death by her parents Leonard & Petra Alvarez, her mother in law, Lucille Bowles; her father-in-law, Chet Bowles; her sisters, Betty White, Esther Schell, and brothers, Fred Alvarez, Savas Alvarez, Steve Alvarez, and Frank Alvarez; her niece Sheila Judd, and nephews Jamer Matusik, Karl Lilly and Michael Judd. Becky became a devoted follower of Jesus Christ at an early age, and not only did she love Him dearly, but she served Him faithfully throughout her lifetime as a teacher, by singing in church choirs, musicals, solos, duets with her husband, and as leader of the praise and worship team and Church Treasurer at Houghton Lake (Michigan) Church of God. Following the move to Tennessee, Becky was active in the Harmony Ladies Choir, the Peacemaker’s Senior Adult group, and the Berean Sunday School Class at North Cleveland Church of God. Wherever she went, Becky inspired others. During her long ordeals with cancer, Becky’s unwavering trust in Christ and her faith in Him touched the lives of countless people, including physicians and nurses who not only cared for her, but prayed and wept with her as well. Becky’s passing is sorrowful to all who knew her, but those whom she leaves behind have a Blessed Hope of being reunited on the Day of Resurrection. These include her devoted husband of 46 years Daniel J. Bowles, a daughter Lisa (Tim) Zograffos, and a son Daniel (Judy) Bowles Jr; grandsons Ryan and Christopher and granddaughter Jessica (Dustin) and great grandchildren Dalton, Brayden, Devin, Gabrielle, and Teyson. She is also is survived by her sisters Phylis Strieter, Ann Judd, Mary (Gordon) Porritt, Sarah (Larry) Stiegerwald; sisters-in-law Rosie Alvarez and Carol (Tom) Vida and brother-in-law Charles (Trudy) Bowles along with many nieces and nephews, and a multitude of friends.
