Reta Belle Freeman Dawson, 88, of Cleveland, Tennessee, transitioned to her eternal home on June 8, 2018 after a brief illness. Her love of God and love for others won the hearts of many who will mourn her loss.Mrs. Dawson was born November 29, 1929 in Amite County, Mississippi to Smiley and Lottie Melton Freeman. She was one of ten siblings and was preceded in death by her loving husband of 61 years, Loyd E. Dawson.A longtime resident of Horn Lake, MS, Reta worked at Kellogg’s Company and J C Penny Department Store in Memphis. She loved teaching children and also served as a women’s ministries director in her local church. Most recently, she was an active member of the senior adult ministries of Peerless Road Church.Mrs. Dawson is survived by three sons, Michael (Peggy) Dawson of Horn Lake, MS; Tim (Peggy) Dawson of Madison, MS; Eric of Milwaukee, WI; and daughter Kay (Perry) Horner of Cleveland, TN. She was extremely proud of her 7 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren. She is also survived by two sisters, Mattie (James) Parker of Holcomb, MS; Fran Osborne of Roanoke, VA; two brothers, William (Marie) Freeman of Enid, MS; Daniel (Sandra) Freeman of Spring Hill, TN. She is also survived by one brother-in-law, Nelson Dawson of Liberty, MS, and many nieces and nephews.The Celebration of Life Service will be conducted Monday, June 11, 2018 at 6:30 P. M. from the Peerless Road Church of God of Prophecy with Chaplain Marvin Eskew, Pastor Brian Sutton, Reverend Kay Horner, Chaplain David Taylor and Pastor Connie Kennard officiating. Graveside Services and Interment will be conducted on Tuesday, June 12, 2018 at 2:00 P. M. CDT at the Forrest Hill South Cemetery in Memphis, Tennessee with Grandsons serving as casket bearers. The family will receive friends from 4:30 until 6:30 P. M. Monday at the Peerless Road Church of God of Prophecy.
