Ruth Calfee Cartwright, age 93, a resident of Cleveland, passed away Thursday, August 20, 2020 in a Chattanooga hospital. Mrs. Cartwright was born in Cleveland and she was the daughter of the late Sarah Bell Dyke Calfee and James Walter Calfee. Her husband, John S. Cartwright, her infant son and daughter, Timothy and Anita Cartwright, her sisters, Halcie Holcomb, Exie Rodgers, Verdia Longwith and Veola Calfee and her brothers, Ivan, Igean, Virgil and Jimmy Calfee also preceded her in death. Mrs. Cartwright was a graduate of Charleston High School and after college, she received her Masters degree from the University of Tennessee, Knoxville. She taught in the Bradley County and Cleveland City School Systems with over 30 years of service. She retired from teaching from Trewhitt Elementary School. She enjoyed music and playing the piano and she enjoyed learning and playing other instruments. She also enjoyed working in her vegetable garden but most of all she loved reading her bible, praying and spending time with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. At the time of her death, Mrs. Cartwright was the oldest member of the Peerless Road Church of God of Prophecy.Survivors include her daughters, Nancy Glover and her husband, Gary Glover Jr. and Rachel Cartwright all of Cleveland, her grandsons, Jordan Glover and his wife Mackenzie, Gabriel "Gabe" Cartwright and his wife Maddie, Joseph Glover and Kevin Glover, her sister, Roxie Wyatt and her husband Henry of Old Fort, Tennessee and several nieces and nephews also survive.The Remembrance of Life Service will be conducted on Sunday, August 23, 2020 at the Peerless Road Church of God of Prophecy with Pastor Adam Jones, Reverend Gary Glover Sr., Gary Glover Jr. and Gabriel Cartwright officiating. Interment will follow in the Hilcrest Memorial Gardens with Jordan Glover, Gabriel Cartwright, Joseph and Kevin Glover, Henry Wyatt II, David Calfee, David and Thomas Malone serving as casket bearers. The family will receive friends from 2:00 until 4:00 P. M. Sunday at the Peerless Road Church of God of Prophecy.
