Rev. Salyer Banks age 87 a resident of McDonald passed into the presence of His Lord and Savior on Friday December 11, 2020 at the home of his daughter. He was born to Grant and Rausey Stallard Banks on April 29, 1933 in Perry County Kentucky. He married his High School sweetheart, Diana Lee Frederick on August 27, 1951. Together they raised 2 children Lucretia Banks Haney and Byron Salyer Banks. Salyer spent the majority of his work life with AT&T in various positions. Prior to retiring with over 30 years of service. Salyer was ordained into the ministry at White Oak Baptist Church on October 13, 1985 and Pastored Burlington Heights Baptist Church. Later he started a radio broadcast that was heard every Saturday on WFLI radio AM 1070 at noon. He preached the Book, The Blood and The Blessed Hope on his broadcast for 16 years. His wife Diana sang the songs on the broadcast as well. He was preceded in death by his wife Diana, his son Byron his parents and 7 brothers and sisters. Left behind to cherish his memory are his daughter Lucretia Banks Haney, 6 grandchildren, Chris Haney ( Scherre), Mark Banks (Jody), Melissa Banks, Maggie Banks, Chase Banks, Hannah Banks Gaddy (Bryan), 9 great grandchildren Cole Haney, Grant Haney, Dawson Haney, Gavin Haney, Sam Banks, Vaughn Banks, Greta Banks, Harper Banks and Clark Banks. A Remembrance of Life Service will be held at 1pm Thursday at Jim Rush Funeral and Cremation Services North Ocoee St. Chapel with Rev. Don Self and Rev. Terry Ellis officiating. The interment will follow at The Banks Family Cemetery with Chris Haney, Mark Banks, Chase Banks, Cole Haney, Grant Haney, Sam Banks and Mike Mooneyham serving as pallbearers. Dawson Haney will walk ahead of his papaw to lead him to his eternal rest. Honorary pallbearers will be all family and friends in Christ. The family will receive friends from 5 until 8pm Wednesday at the funeral home. Due to current COVID-19 regulations, our staff is committed to taking care of our guests and families that we serve.
