Stephen Lynn Cantrell, a man lovingly known as Steveo, was born on November 10, 1965, and he peacefully left this life for his Heavenly home on Tuesday, April 25, 2023, surrounded by family.Steveo had a “larger than life” personality that drew people to him. He was a devoted son, brother, uncle and friend. He was a member of Sanford Baptist Church, watching remotely due to his health. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.Steveo was the son of William Ronnie Cantrell and Brenda Kaye Cantrell. He was the grandson of the late Raymond and Lecy Cantrell and the late S.D. and Mary Gordon. He is survived by his brother, Scott Cantrell (Amy), his brother, Stan Cantrell (Kathy). His niece, Ashlee Kapteina (Chris), nephew, Josh Cantrell (fiance, Julie), nephew Tyler Cantrell (Danielle), nephew, Trent Cantrell (Corrin), niece Madi Cantrell, nephew, Cooper Cantrell, and great nieces and nephews, Mack, Masyn, Mckynlee, Hazel, Bowie, and Andee.Family was everything to Steveo. He enjoyed family gatherings and making others laugh. Laughter was always involved when he was around. Steveo loved big and so much of that love extended to his nieces and nephews. Visits from them brought him such joy, evident by the smiles they brought to his face. He was a veteran who proudly served his country and years after his service ended, still flew the American flag and respectfully observed Memorial Day and Veteran’s Day. Steveo was deeply saddened by the number of soldiers who lost their lives daily on American soil, succumbing to suicide. He felt this loss personally, as some of his own friends saw suicide as their only option. He longed for the day when the statistics would shift in soldiers’ favor. As he was so passionate about ending soldier suicide, in lieu of flowers, please donate to Stop Soldier Suicide. Donations can be made online at stopsoldiersuicide.org.Special thanks to his caregivers through the VA who not only assisted Steveo but brought companionship and friendship to him during the hard times. They laughed, watched movies, ate and he even doled out a bit of Steveo wisdom along the way. To his nurses and CNAs with Hospice of Chattanooga and the Hospice Care Center, we couldn’t have made it through this without your care and kindness. Thank you.A Celebration of Steveo’s Life will be held at Sanford Baptist Church, 2415 County Road 50 Riceville, TN 37370 Sunday, April 30, 2023 at 5 pm with Pastor Stan Cantrell and Josh Cantrell officiating.
