William "Corny" McCormack

William C. McCormack “Corny” as he was known by his family and friends, passed away to his heavenly home Saturday January 19th, 2019 at a local health care facility, surrounded by his family. He was of the Baptist faith and a Veteran of the United States Army. Corny loved all things outdoors, hunting, fishing and most of all he loved the golf course. He was a kind and loving father and papaw and he was a true friend to many. He was preceded in death by his loving wife of thirty years Melba McCormack his mom and pop Grissom,who raised him from an early age and his mother Eliza McCormack, his siblings Geneva Shelton, Wanda Haggard, Sue, Pig, Jimmy, Baby and Peanut Grissom. He is survived by his children “Slick” McCormack and his wife Vickie, Gordy McCormack and his wife Rosa, Michelle Simon and her husband Bucky, Lisa Hughes and her husband Mike and Geneva McCormack, his grandchildren, some of which he raised as his own, Daphne and Tasha Smith, Katanna White, Chelsea Ashba, Tiffany Hicks, Miguel Olsen, Hunter and Evan McCormick, Timmy, Jessica and Margret Wilson, 14 great-grandchildren his sister Barbara Bishop and 2 very special friends Tony Burns and Opal Dennis. A Remembrance of Life Service will be held for Corny Wednesday January 23, 2019 at 1pm at Jim Rush Funeral and Cremation Services Wildwood Ave. Chapel with Rev. Ray Cheatham officiating. The committal service will follow at Hilcrest Memorial Gardens with family and friends serving as casket bearers. The family will receive friends Tuesday from 5 until 8pm at the funeral home.Read Obituary
