What a wonderful tribute to Bill. He certainly will be missed by his friends and family. He so enjoyed life and I can still hear his laugh. RIP Bill you will be missed.
Bill was a childhood friend of mine for many years. His ebullient and benevolent personality made him a delightful companion on our many adventures on horseback. He kept his horse, “Copper” in our pasture for a time, leading to outings through the then-empty fields around N Ocoee St and Bowman Hills. In recent years, we interacted on social media, reminding me of his larger-than-life persona. It is with a heavy heart that I have just learned of his passing. My condolences to his family and friends.
We met in 9th grade and that was the start of a life long friendship. Bill was always full of joy and laughter. I have countless memories of fun times together when Bill was, as usual, the life of the party. It feels like it was just yesterday that we were walking the halls of Cleveland High with our friends making all the treasured memories that I have cherished for a lifetime. We always looked forward to the pep rallys and the football games and wrestling matches when we cheered on Bill and his teammates to many a victory. He was truly a special person with a heart of gold. I know that he was a man who was strong in his faith so I know that this is not goodbye forever, just till we meet again in heaven one day. With Love, Frankie Mae.
Bill Varnell was always a Standup Guy. We were officers at the Cleveland Elk's Lodge and I always counted on him to do what was Right & Just as Treasurer and Trustee, he never let me down.
Bill & Fuzz were always the Star Campers at the Elk's biannual camping trips in the Cherokee National Forest.
Bill was the salt of the earth, I will miss him.
Rest in Peace, Bill.
