Douglas J. Helton

Douglas J. Helton, age 81, a resident of Cleveland, passed away Saturday, December 7, 2019 in a Decatur health care facility. Mr. Helton was born in Cleveland and he was the son of the late Lelen Crumley Helton and James D. "J. D." Helton. His grand daughter, Cheyann Ransom, his sisters, Marie Owenby, Betty Mikel and Daisy Fairbanks and his brothers, Billy, Dallas, Paul, Larry, Gary and Wayne Helton also preceded him in death. Mr. Helton was a truck driver for more than 25 years, retiring from Calhoun Transport. He loved NASCAR and he was a big Dale Earnhardt fan. Mr. Helton attended Cloverleaf Baptist Church.Survivors include his daughter, Teresa Campbell, his sister, Delilah "Deanie" Richardson and her husband Harry all of Cleveland and several nieces and nephews also survive.The Remembrance of Life Graveside Services and Interment will be conducted Wednesday, December 11, 2019 at 2:00 P. M. at the Tasso United Methodist Church Cemetery with Reverend Arris Cavender officiating. Nephews will serve as casket bearers. The family will receive friends from 11:00 until 1:30 on Wednesday at the Jim Rush Funeral and Cremation Services Wildwood Chapel who has charge of the arrangements.Read Obituary
